Hanmadang Korean Performing Arts Inc. is a Brisbane-based Korean traditional performing arts organisation dedicated to preserving, promoting, and sharing the richness of Korean cultural heritage through performance, education, and multicultural collaboration.
Established in 2010, Hanmadang has been actively engaging communities across Australia and internationally through traditional music, dance, drumming, and cultural workshops. Over the past four decades, the group has performed at major multicultural festivals, government events, community celebrations, schools, and international cultural exchanges in cities including Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne, Perth, Cairns, and Papua New Guinea.
Hanmadang aims to build meaningful connections between cultures by introducing the beauty, spirit, and energy of Korean traditional arts to diverse audiences. Through dynamic performances and community engagement, the organisation continues to foster cultural understanding, harmony, and inclusiveness within Australia’s multicultural society.
The organisation has collaborated with local councils, government bodies, multicultural organisations, educational institutions, and community groups, contributing to the growth and visibility of Korean culture within Queensland and beyond.
Hanmadang also places strong importance on passing Korean traditional arts to future generations through educational programs, workshops, and youth participation, ensuring that Korea’s cultural heritage continues to thrive in Australia.
